Why You Should Use A Travel Professional: Reason Two - I Save You Money
Wait, what? You mean to tell me that on top of spending hours scouring the internet I'm probably spending more than I should? YES! That is precisley what I'm telling you. I bet that headline grabbed your attention. No one likes to spend more than they have to on anything, no matter what income level you are.
I bet you thought that all of those websites with "cheap", "bargain" and "deal" in the name or title really meant you were getting the best VALUE. First, before we go further, let's talk about the words cheap and value. I don't know about you but I hate the word cheap. When I think of cheap, I never think of best value, I think of inferior quality. And I never assume that paying less gives me the same or better quality, product or service. Per Webster's, Cheap can be defined as "obtaining at a low price, depreciated in value, of inferior quality or worth and stingy". It is not a word that gives me a positive feeling.
Value on the other hand... Now value is a word I use often when speaking with clients as well as prospective clients. Value speaks to me because I get to assign a worth to something. I determine value when I look at every aspect to decide if something is "worth it" to me - be it time invested, money invested or what ever I am investing in something. According to Webster's, Value is defined as "monetary worth of something or market price and also as a fair return or equivalent in goods, services or money for something exchanged". Value makes me feel positive about whatever it is I'm considering since I get to decide if I think that pair of shoes or that handbag I've been stalking online is worth the money the designer has assigned to their product.
Now you are probably wondering how much money I can save you. Let's go back to my favorite word - value. I don't necessarily save you money (on the front end) with every travel experience I plan, however I do ensure you have received the best value for your travel dollars. If there are additional amenities that can be added because of my affiliations in the industry, I make sure you receive them. If a vendor promotion can be combined with my affiliation promotion then you HAVE saved money. An example of this would be when a vendor is running a promotion where they are offering a credit of 150.00 per person to be used while you are with them whether it is a cruise line or resort. Let's say my host agency or consortium also has an additional benefit for that same vendor which could include prepaid gratuities, complimentary beverage package or WiFi. By taking advantage of all the promotions available to me, I have saved you money since you didn't have to pay for one of those products. Savings aren't always seen on the front-end - sometimes they are realized on the back-end as in the example. Of course there can also be savings involved when you book with a travel professional who is well connected since they may have the ability to save you anywhere from $50.00 to a few hundred dollars per person based on how much business they do with a particular supplier. Are you starting to see another benefit to working exclusively with a travel professional? The more business I do, the more often I can offer you a benefit from the supplier as a thank you for doing business with them.
Travel Professionals love to pass on to you, the traveler, added value items that don't cost you a penny more. If you love getting a great value and not necessarily a great bargain (another word on my banned word list) call me.
